ABOUT HOSPITAL SUPPORT ORGANIZATION
Hospital Support Organization was founded with a group of healthcare professionals with a heart to serve mission institutions. Established in 2011, HSO is registered as a Non-Governmental Organization that exists to support the effective and compassionate medical efforts of missions and church organizations. The organization seeks to link the generosity of philanthropists and churches to increase the reach and impact of effective on-the-ground healthcare workers.
Hospital Support Organization was initially started to coordinate the TB/HIV Clinical Training Program at AIC Kijabe and Nazareth Hospitals. The organization has grown significantly since inception and now supports various programs in the country and region.
With AMHF and training partners University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), HSO supports capacity building through training and mentorship in partnership with AIC Kijabe Hospital, Nazareth Hospital and more recently Maua Methodist Hospital. The training program also has partners from Christian Healthcare Association of Kenya through their Christian Healthcare AIDS Program, NASCOP and DLTLD. Heritage Church supports Christian ministry and HIV programs in Kenya.
With the coordinated efforts from AMHF and a strong team on the ground, HSO supports surgical patients through the Watsi Program and club foot surgery at CURE International Hospital. Various levels of the nursing program at Maua Methodist Hospital, the pilot nurse anesthesia training program for South Sudanese students carried out at AIC Kijabe and individual student scholarships have been established in the past year to build capacity in these areas.
Purchase of supplies, employment of staff and logistical support for the Doro PICC in South Sudan has taken off with funding from AMHF, coordination by HSO and on-the-ground support from Serving in Mission (SIM). Memorial Christian Hospital in Werkok is currently supported through the purchase of medication and other supplies. Construction on the site to increase the infrastructure is currently underway.
A onetime purchase of equipment for the Mutomo Mission Hospital was accomplished successfully.
With the logistical framework afforded by HSO, UTMB has extended its operations in Kenya to include student attachments at our affiliate hospitals and clinical research in conjunction with the Kenya Medical Research Institute and University of Nairobi.
We achieve this through keen attentiveness to donor wishes, by linking them with healthcare needs identified by those directly involved in health service delivery. We partner with hospitals, hospital management teams, companies and like-minded organization to achieve this. The team working directly for HSO is lean and highly efficient, coordinating a wide range of activities within each program component.
We have training offices through a memorandum of understanding with AIC Kijabe Mission Hospital, Maua Methodist Hospital and Nazareth hospital and the new head office in Nairobi located at No. 6 Cathy Flats, Lenana Road in the Kilimani Area.
